This is a very charming itinerary which gives value to the beauty of Bosco Quarto and Bosco Spigno. Deep in a karstic environment, typical of the Promontory of Gargano, with its sinkholes and its colorful Wild Orchids, it is possible here to observe the beechwood that twists with the Turkey oak to which is also added the white hornbeam, by offering an incredible color chromatism.
Ivy and other vegetable species envelop, by creating a perfect shelter for a multitude of birds.
Recent sighting and findings of animal remains confirms the presence of the Apennine Wolf, arrived from Monti Dauni and Campanian Apennines by passing through “ecological tunnels” such as rivers.
Bosco Spigno represent a trace of the ancient Nemus Garganicus, the forest that covered a wide area of the Gargano until 1800, but a very different environment when compared with the Foresta Umbra.
